Westerner Meets East

A German tourist on the Great Wall of China at Badaling, photographing the countryside beyond, in the autumn of 2006. Some Chinese graffiti is visible, carved into the stones of the Wall.

The Badaling section of the Great Wall, the closest section to Beijing, was the first section of the Great Wall opened to tourists, and it remains the most popular.
